Karel is a seasoned top executive and investor with a strong background in computer science and security. As a partner at Evolution Equity Partners, a VC fund investing in growth-stage technology companies, Karel leads investments in cybersecurity, enterprise software, and data analytics across North America and Europe.

Previously, Karel served as CTO, Chief Scientist, and interim CEO at AVG Technologies (NYSE:AVG, acquired by Avast). He has also invested in innovative security companies such as Cognitive Security (acquired by Cisco), SecurityScorecard, Onapsis, and others.

Passionate about supporting the local startup ecosystem, Karel is a founding member and President of the Czech Business Angel Association. He holds a Kauffman Fellowship from the Palo Alto-based Society of Kauffman Fellows.
