A graduate of the Faculty of Law, Charles University in Prague, Tomas Nielsen specialises in IT Law, Telecommunications Law, Copyright Law, and Media Law with an additional interest in the Law of Obligations related to complex business transactions, legal relations to real estate, and Housing Law.

A former editor-in-chief of Technologies & Prosperity, Program & Business Development Director at TUESDAY Business Network (formerly known as First Tuesday), President of Association of Electronic Communications Users in the Czech Republic, Lawyer and Partner at the international law firm Rowan Legal, and a member of the working group co-ordinated by the Slovak Ministry of Culture for drafting an amendment to the Slovak Copyright Law, Tomáš Nielsen lectures ICT Law at the Faculty of Transportation Sciences of the Czech Technical University, he is also a member of the Consulting Council of the Faculty of Media, Bratislava School of Law, and Chairman of the Section for International Co-Operation, Slovak Society for Systems Integration.

He is the author and co-author of a number of professional articles and publications such as Software Law Basics (Wolters Kluwer, 2011), Intellectual Property and Its Protection (European Commission – Enterprise and Industry, 2009), Company Formations (CorporateINTL, 2009), etc., and an active contributor to conferences on software law, information systems, protection of intellectual property rights, etc., such as System Integration 2008 (Prague), Business &Information FORUM 2009 (Prague), Digit 2009 (Bratislava), System Integration 2006-2009 (Štrbské pleso, Bratislava, Myjava), European Patent Forum and PATINOVA 2009 (Prague) and many others.
